Doing things that you don't want to do
I will not go into specifics here, but say you are in no position to say no and you gotta do what you gotta do.
It could be attending a meeting, meeting someone, cleaning the house etc.
Assuming you can not escape from it, here's a few tips to make the experience bearable:
- acceptance - whether you like it or not, you still have to do it. So accept the situation already.
- change your attitude - you can go into the task kicking and screaming making yourself and everybody else miserable in the process or you can plaster a smile and breathe a sigh of relief when it's finally over
- do your homework & PLAN ahead - be prepared. if it's a meeting, arm yourself with facts. if it's a presentation, practise practise practise
- imagine when it's over - don't think of the minutes/days of the impending task, but of the second it is over and you heave a huge sigh of relief. Would you prefer feeling good having done a good job that you hate, or feeling like crap days after the fact, cause you spent all your energy hating it?
