I used to try to emulate the Japanese and their courtesy, you know, all the bowing and the giving way and the politeness. I'd give way while driving, allowing others to cut queue. I'd hold the lift doors for people. I'd let others go through or pass me by.
As time went on, I realize that I was becoming a softie. In Japan, this worked because the kindness is reciprocated. But in Malaysia? When you give way, you become a push over. People view your politeness as a weakness and they take advantage.
So note to self. No more Ms Nice Girl. Y'all can go fuck ourselves. It's a dog eat dog world.
