It represented a clean future. A commanding captain with sexy British accent and high ethics. A group of officers serving together despite their differences. A clear evil that is wrapped up in 1 or 2 episodes.
The innocence of an Android striving to be human.
I'm rewatching Star Trek TNG. Used to stay up late (only to fall asleep when it came on) until 1145pm just to watch it on tv3.
Patrick Stewart is brilliant as always. And watching all these a second time around when I'm older, i'm able to appreciate many things I missed the first time around.
Such as, moral implications of a commanding officer's decision. The many talents of Brent Spiner. How Jonathan Frakes can never sit or get up from the seat properly. The optimism of Whoopi Goldberg. Star Trek's diverse cast and controversial issues (from LGBT to race to euthanasia)
I hated Patrick Stewart for awhile when he was mean to this guy.
But as a guy ages, I realized that he is only human, like the rest of us. And he is coming back as Jean Luc Picard in 2019! Looking forward to that.
